Kel Seliger for Texas State Senator, District 31
Representing the 37 counties of Texas Senate District 31, including Randall County
Since he was first elected to represent District 31, Kel has worked hard to deliver the essentials for the people of his district—good public education, effective but not intrusive government, adequate water supplies, and well-paying jobs. He has been recognized repeatedly for his conservative principles and dedication to education, small government, and local control – so that we, not Austin, can make the decisions that affect us the most.
As Chairman of the Senate Higher Education Committee and the senior Republican member on the Senate Education Committee, Kel is one of Texas’ top education leaders. He authored legislation to reform state-mandated testing and he created Individual Graduation Committees – so students who are held back only by a test can graduate from high school and lead productive lives in our communities. These graduation committees have helped hundreds of students enter college and the workforce. In recognition of these efforts, he was named to the Texas Parent Teacher Association Legislative Honor Roll, and received the “Leader in Education Award” from Humanities Texas.
Kel has been named a “Fighter for Free Enterprise” by the Texas Association of Business four times for his steadfast support of policies that encourage and promote a competitive business climate in Texas. Seliger also serves on the Senate Finance Committee, where he has helped balance the state budget every time without a single tax increase, and on the Natural Resources and Economic Development Committee, where he fights to secure our water supply.
In his time representing us in the Texas Senate, Seliger has compiled an impressive record of authoring conservative bills, voting for conservative initiatives, and receiving numerous conservative awards.
